Both are enlarged ~18× models showing the semicircular canals, vestibule, saccule/utricle, and a longitudinally-sectioned cochlea with the balance nerve network represented — they appear to be near-identical two-part constructions. Confirm with us whether there's a material, mounting, or edition difference between the two before ordering, since the listed specs are otherwise the same.
DS 17 (enlarged ~4×) focuses on the middle and inner ear together — ossicles, tympanic membrane, and an openable cochlea within the labyrinth. DS 5 (enlarged ~3×) covers the full external, middle, and inner ear in 6 removable parts. If you need the complete ear in one teaching piece, DS 5 is the broader model; DS 17 is more focused on middle/inner-ear mechanics specifically.
They're a different use case entirely — auricular acupuncture/auricular therapy training models, built for practicing point location on the ear's surface rather than teaching internal ear anatomy. Don't order these for an audiology or anatomy course expecting cochlear/ossicle detail; they're silicone surface replicas for a specific therapeutic training context.
